Wine Wednesday - Habersham Winery Scarlett

This past weekend The Other Williams and I went to Winefest in Helen, GA. The festival was held at Habersham Winery and highlighted 10 different wineries. It was a playground for me. I got to try a lot of wine. Out of every wine I tried this Scarlett was by far my favorite. We bought seven bottles of wine from different wineries so we'll be reviewing them over the coming weeks. But we'll start with the best...

Habersham Winery has been producing award winning Georgia wines since 1983 and is one of Georgia's oldest and largest wineries. The Winery orginally was located in Baldwin Georgia until November 1998 when construction on a new facility located at the Nacoochee Village in Helen, Georgia was completed.

Habersham has two vineyards in the area and plant cabernet sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay, Riesling and French-American varieties seyval, vidal and chambourcin on 38 acres!

The wine: Scarlett
Barely off-dry, soft and fruity. Far and away our best selling red. A blend of Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% white wine. 50% oak aging. Rich, ripe blackberry-blueberry character.
This is a white wine drinkers red. With the 20% white blended in and the oak aging this red is smooth as silk yet retains all it's big beautiful red flavors. I'm in love!
